At a time when Gartner says 30 per cent of customers are looking to switch backup vendors, CA is trying to ensure that it (and its resellers) pick up share
From now until Dec. 31, 2012, CA is offering a rebate of up to $700 per license or up to $5,000 per order to eligible participants who buy CA ARCserve through a qualified North America reseller/retailer to replace any competing backup or disaster recovery software.
It’s an aggressive marketing move, on top of a Gartner report that said in the next few years 30% of vendors will switch backup companies. And it’s aimed at reducing the cost of change, including the complexity, cloud adoption, and new capabilities on the market for data protection.
“This is a deep discount like we’ve never run before,” said Steve Fairbanks, vice president of product management, Data Management, CA Technologies. “Normally we offer a competitive discount on offerings in the channel for those switching from competitors. We’ve offered this aggressive discount to help them make a switch to bigger and better technologies that let them provide more capabilities for less cost. Clearly ARCserve is the leading solution for hybrid data protection and virtual environments.”
