Sage has announced a major new partnership with Vancouver B.C.-based Beanworks, which makes accounting workflow automation solutions. The new relationship will bring an integrated payables workflow capacity directly into Sage’s product line.

“This is a hugely important partnership for us,” said Paul Struthers, EVP and Managing Director of Sage, Canada. “Accounts payable workflow can be a very manual process. Most of it today is not done electronically at all.”

Sage has not previously had AP automation in its solutions. Beanworks – as well as other providers – offered their solutions through Sage’s development partner program.

“Beanworks comes from the accounting side of the business.” Struthers said. “They make an end to end integrated solution with a selection of payment options which are essentially virtual credit cards. It integrates very well with Sage, which is why we did the partnership with them.”

Beanworks will become the AP automation provider of choice for Sage accounting and business management solutions, including Sage 50, Sage 100, Sage 300 and Sage 500. Beanworks will be integrated into these solutions over the course of 2017.

“Their being named our provider of choice means we consider it’s the one that will work best with us, and the one that we recommend,” Struthers stated. “It will come pre-integrated once the integration on each solution is complete, although the customer can, of course, choose something else if they want.”

“This partnership helps us empower these Business Builders – our customers,” Struthers said. “It gives them a solution to focus on their core competency. It can very much streamline things for them, and optimize their business processes and workflows. It can really extend that value proposition for them. It allows them to bring one package to their prospects and customers.”

“At Sage, our whole concept of looking out for the Business Builder is based not just on providing them with solutions, but being a voice of advocacy – being a voice for these business builders,” Struthers said. “Whether they want cloud, on-prem or hybrid – the fact that we have something for all of them is critical.”
