ChannelBuzz.ca Podcast: The Tax Episode

With tax season just two weeks in the rearview, the ChannelBuzz.ca Podcast takes a look at two headlines out of this year’s tax season.

First, we’re joined by Marc-Etienne Leveille, malware researcher at ESET, whose team discovered and tracked an SMS-based phishing attempt purporting to be the CRA offering tax refunds. Leveille discusses how ESET found the attack, what they found, and why it’s a bit different that the average run-of-the-mill phishing attempt.

Then, we’re joined by Paul Struthers, managing director of Sage Canada, who discusses a Sage-commissioned study into the impact of tax policy on small businesses. It turns out that micro-businesses in particular are over-burdended both in terms of time and dollars spent on taxes. Struthers shares details of the study, and offers his thoughts on what small businesses can do, and what government should do, to reduce their tax burden.

All that and more in this edition of the ChannelBuzz.ca Podcast.
