Veritas beefs up SaaS governance portfolio with new Veritas SaaS Backup

Veritas also announces two new sets of offerings for Office 365 and Google G Suite which feature Veritas SaaS Backup, and two existing products, Veritas Info.Map and Veritas EV.cloud.

Data protection vendor Veritas has announced two new sets of data protection and governance offerings, Veritas Data Protection and Governance for Office 365, and Veritas Data Protection and Governance for G Suite. Both feature Veritas SaaS Backup, an entirely new cloud-to-cloud backup and recovery solution, along with two existing solutions Veritas Information Map and Veritas Enterprise Vault.cloud.

Veritas has an establishing governance portfolio, which started out in enterprise information archiving with Veritas Enterprise Vault. Veritas EV.cloud – their SaaS version – came in 2012 with the acquisition of LiveOffice. An eDiscovery component came through the 2011 acquisition of ClearWell Systems, and is now Veritas eDiscovery. Information Map, which provides a real-time picture of data, came though a 2016 acquisition.

Data protection is something that governance is getting more involved in,” said Josh Stageberg, Product Manager for Veritas InfoMap. “GDPR is just one example of this, where governance and DP cross. These announcements are not tied directly to GDPR going live, but they are very timely.”

Veritas SaaS Backup is a new unified data protection solution that ties together backup, search and restore capabilities in a single user interface for both  Office 365 and Google G Suite data.

“Veritas has a lot of backup products, but this is an entirely new one, a cloud backup and recovery solution for SaaS backup application workloads,” said Stacie Poon, Product Manager for Veritas SaaS Backup. “It will create more awareness of our ability to complement both Office 365 and Google G Suite.”

The same product works in both the Microsoft and Google environments. It ties together backup, search and restore capabilities in a single user interface across either ecosystem, anytime, anywhere and from any device to provide access to their data anytime, anywhere and from any device. Customers can easily preview, locate and restore the exact file, and have multiple restore options, including direct download, in-place restore, entire account restoration, and account data migration.

Veritas Enterprise Vault.cloud helps organizations retain and discover Office 365 and Google G Suite data to satisfy regulatory compliance and legal requirements, such as HIPAA and the GDPR. Information Map software presents a real-time view of file attributes and usage both ecosystems, with  immersive visual representation of the data designed to provide a complete picture of data ownership and modifications.

“Both Veritas Data Protection and Governance for Office 365, and Veritas Data Protection and Governance for G Suite are made up of the same three product offerings, but they are each sold separately, and not as a suite,” Poon said.

Veritas is emphasizing that the complementary positioning of these product sets make them ideal lateral solutions for their channel to sell.

“We know that for the channel, Office 365 and Google G Suite are critical,” said Amy Dugdale Product Manager for Veritas EV.cloud. “They need to be aware that these complementary solutions from Veritas can help them put in place a complementary data protection and governance solution with best in class products, and for both  Office 365 and G Suite.”

Veritas Data Protection and Governance for Microsoft Office 365 and Veritas Data Protection and Governance for G Suite are available now.
