High-flying Chargifi picks Belkin as a hardware partner, leveraging that company’s recent expansion of their B2B channel in a move which will see the integrated solution distributed in North America through Ingram Micro.
HPE made a big play in 2018 around servers in the SMB space, followed up by solutions related to hybrid cloud. While those will continue in 2019, the company is also looking to roll out similar initiatives around simplification around storage and hyper-converged solutions for SMBs.
Advances from both the 802.11ax technology and Aruba’s own IP add new power management and IoT capabilities to the new APs.
The new solutions include the last two HPE ProLiant servers to be refreshed with Gen 10 technology, as well as software developed in collaboration with Microsoft, which includes new HPE Rapid Setup Software that HPE says will slash partner install times by up to 70 per cent.
HPE has beefed up their edge IoT devices with more storage capacity, and announced validation of the ability of these devices to run high capacity solutions at the edge, by software vendors ranging from industry titans to high-flying startups
Isolation-based security is a fairly new technology, with Symantec being the best-known vendor in the space, but Cyberinc thinks that the additional security value they bring to the table will resonate with HPE’s own core messaging.
Aruba extends their software-defined architecture to the branch, with the new Cloud Managed 7000 Series Branch Gateways, as well as new Aruba Central abilities to manage them.
HPE outlined its goals for its channel for the year ahead, together with new and planned initiatives to help them get there.
Chargifi’s pipeline has grown massively since iPhone support for wireless charging was announced last year, and the company is aggressively pivoting to a channel strategy, which will soon see them add distribution in the U.S. and Canada as well.
While the new partners in the ArubaEdge Technology Partner Program are decidedly non-traditional, Aruba also says they will open up new opportunities to traditional partners, in the same way the entry of voice-based telco partners in the early days of convergence created massive opportunities for the IT channel.
Aruba integrates the technology from its Niara acquisition with an expanded ClearPass, to focus on the resulting capability as a fabric and provide differentiation in the wireless networking market.
The new HPE relationship also brings the D&H HERO program, which provides additional HPE-focused support, into Canada.
In addition to the new Aruba 8400 Core Switch, featuring an advanced new OS, Aruba is also announcing the addition of asset tracking capabilities to their Meridian Mobile App platform.
“Without a good security story, companies simply won’t adopt [IoT]. There’s too much at risk,” HPE Aruba’s Keerti Melkote says.
Other important changes include the integration of programs for other groups which used to be outside the old umbrella program and the integration of the Aruba PartnerEdge and HPE Networking channel programs into the new Partner Ready for Networking program.

In what is likely the most exciting of the announcements so far at HPE Discover, HPE announces two converged EdgeLine devices, as well as the ability to use their Vertica Big Data solution and functionality from their Aruba secure wi-fi system in IoT devices. New IoT partnerships and IoT Innovation Labs were also announced.
HPE’s first IoT offerings include Edgeline devices that bring compute to the network edge, and an Aruba offering for managing location-based services.
