The SaaS option will strengthen go-to-market options for Virtustream and their strategic partners and channels. Virtustream also recently made an executive alignment to give a higher priority to the indirect channel.
Dell EMC has announced its thresholds and tiers for 2018, and while there are some changes from the previous system, the biggest, by far, is the emphasis on services for tier eligibility, not just for rebates.
ATADATA has always sold through the channel, but it has mainly been on an ad hoc basis. Now they are formalizing things with their first channel program, and are looking to add partners who are a good fit.
At this stage, the new Dell EMC program is still in the formative stages, but the company indicated the general principles. Details will be coming in December, with the launch to take place in February.
The new Web-scale object storage platform will extend on-prem EMC storage and backup applications into the cloud, and continue the trend of requiring the assistance of more channel partners than had been the case when Virtustream was acquired.
